How is engineering going to change the future for students and educators?
For this week's Digital Learning class we were to create, design, and/or develop a learning object using that website/tool for your Genius Hour project. I have decided to incorporate my Coggle and embed it into this reflection post. Below you will find my Coggle representing my Genius Hour project on Engineering, with the proposed question: "how will engineering change the future for students and educators?".
Additionally, this week's class was beneficial for me because of the Jigsaw group. While being in team yellow we were to explore resources that teachers and educators utilize in their classrooms. For example, one example that I enjoyed was ThingLike. With this being said, in the example that was provided is "Girls in STEM", which will cover two topics for my project.
1. Reflect on what you did on your Genius Hour project this week
This week I collected, organized and writing the information I have found so that I can categorize the useful material.
2. Reflect on what you learned about your topic this week
What I learned about my topic was this was specifically information regarding "girls in STEAM". I watched three videos that I found could be of inspiration for females aspiring to make a difference in subject areas that are considered male dominated. These videos are embedded in my Coggle under "Girls in STEM".
3. Explain any trouble you had this week
The only trouble I had this week for my project is trying to embed video's from YouTube and other websites into this blog.
4. Explain what you need to do before our next Genius Hour
Next week I need to take all of my information that I have gathered and put it into the mind map to help describe and explain my project.
5. Explain any questions you have and where you might be able to find the answers to them
As of right now I am still working on my questions from the previous week. Mainly, the reason why men are still dominated engineering and the science-based programs.
6. Explain where you go from here
From here I will continue to organize my research that I have found regarding my topic. With this I will incorporate the information into my Coggle to display the importance of engineering for students and educators.
